WATCH: Plymouth's Town Crier on the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower

John Pitt performed a cry on Plymouth Hoe to mark the start of the commemorations

Wednesday 16 September officially marks 400 years to the day that the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth to the New World.

Although commemorations planned for this year were put on hold, things were finally able to kick-start on the day of the anniversary.

It's hoped that events can now run until July next year.

On Plymouth Hoe, the Mayflower 400 Town Crier - John Pitt - and Deputy - David Green - performed a cry to announce the start of the programme of events.
