Storm Dennis brings strong winds and heavy rain

The Met Office has issued several weather warnings

As Storm Ciara comes to its end, the next storm set to sweep across the UK has been named Storm Dennis.

Met Office meteorologists say there will be strong gusts of rain and wind across the UK with little time to recover from Storm Ciara.

The following weather warnings have been put in place:

    • Amber warning of rain: Saturday 12pm - Sunday 3pm
    • Yellow warning of wind: Saturday 10am - Sunday 12pm
    • Yellow warning of rain: Saturday 12pm - Sunday 9pm

Steve Ramsdale, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “Another spell of very wet and windy weather is expected for Saturday.

“Our confidence in the forecast means we have been able to issue severe weather warnings well in advance, giving people time to prepare for potential impacts of the storm."

There's a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings and there's likely to be some disruption to public transport.
