Police investigating serious stabbing at Bretonside

    Five men have been arrested in connection to the incident

    Police in Plymouth are investigating a serious assault on a man in the early hours of Saturday morning (11 July). 

    Officers and paramedics were called to Gossip on Bilbury Street at 00.45am, and a man was found with a number of stab wounds. 

    The 42-year-old was treated at the scene and taken to Derriford Hospital.

    His injuries are described as life-threatening and he remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

    Two men, one aged 27 and from Plympton and the other aged 30 from Plymouth, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault GBH. The 27-year-old has been released without charge and the 30-year-old remains in custody at this time. 

    A group of males ran from the scene and got into a vehicle in Southside Street. The vehicle was located in Saltash a short time later.

    A 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from Saltash were arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent.

    An 18-year-old from Saltash was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent, drink driving, possession of a Class A drug.

    Four males remain in custody at this time.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and asking for anyone with information to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/055659/20.
