Organisers say Cherbourg in France will host the finish in 2021

Plymouth will miss out on hosting the Rolex Fastnet Race, which has historically finished in our city.

Organisers, the Royal Ocean Racing Club have announced that the next races in 2021 and 2023 will finish in Cherbourg, France.

They say the move will allow more competitors to take part in the biennial race, which will now be around 90 miles longer. The 2019 race had more than 150 boats on a waiting list, and the French city offers "enhanced facilities".

It's hoped the 100th anniversary race in 2025 will return to Plymouth.
