The two-bay station will replace the existing one
Plymstock's brand new fire station is a step closer to reality, as it has received full planning approval from Plymouth City Council.
The new, two-bay fire station will be built on the existing site, and will replace the current building, which is dated, and nearing the end of its life.
The project is part of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service's 'Safer Together' programme of ongoing investment into fire service buildings that support firefighters and the local communities.
The service said: "The tender for construction works is currently live and this is a result of many months of close working between the service's estates team, the operational working group, and professional designers.
"This is considered to be a really positive progression during these difficult and challenging times created by Covid-19."
Work is anticipated to start this winter.
