People rescued from two separate overnight fires

    They happened in North Hill and Windsor Road

    People have been rescued from two seperate fires in our city overnight. 

    Three men were brought to safety from a blaze in student accommodation on North Hill. 

    Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue service said: "This fire was in a three storey building used as student accommodation. Three adult males were rescued by fire crews using ladders. The fire was in the ground floor and the cause is under investigation. The whole building was 70 per cent damaged by heat and smoke."

    The second fire was at a house in Windsor Road in Compton and three people had to be taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. 

    Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue service said: "This fire originated in a first floor bedroom of a three storey house. Three adult casualties were all taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. The first floor bedroom was 100 per cent destroyed by fire, with the rest of the first floor 80 per cent damaged by heat and smoke. The second floor was also 100 per cent damaged by smoke. The cause of the fire is being investigated."
