Man released with 'no further action' after Yelverton death

    Police are continuing to investigate the unexplained death

    Police were called at around 3.15pm on Friday 25 January by the ambulance service with reports of a woman located in the public toilets in Meavy Lane.

    The woman, in her 60’s and from Plymouth, was immediately transferred to Derriford Hospital with life-threatening head injuries. She later passed away in the early hours of Sunday 27 January.

    Following the incident, a 68-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested, he was later released on police bail. He has since been released with no further action being taken in relation to this incident.

    Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “I would like to thank the public for the great response to our appeal. We received a significant amount of information which allowed us to progress our investigation.

    “Sadly, she passed away in hospital a short time after the incident.

    “Her death continues to be treated as unexplained and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
