Local, national and global charities recognise World Mental Health Day

This year's theme is suicide prevention

Today (10th October) is World Mental Health Day, with local groups and organisations, raising awareness of the problems faced by more than one in four people.

These include depression and anxiety, as well as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Today's theme is suicide prevention, and aims to help people understand the causes, and build an urgent approach to prevent it.

Local, national and global groups, charities and organisations are marking today, encouraging people to talk with others about their problems.

A recent study found over 40% of workers in Plymouth think talking about mental health issues in the workplace is a sign of weakness.
