Illegal fishing nets found in River Plym

Cattewater Harbour Commissioners say anyone caught using them could face enforcement action

Illegal fishing nets, used to catch and retain bass, have been removed from the River Plym.

Cattewater Harbour Commissioners say use of them for recreational purposes is prohibited.

There are several other rules around bass fishing at different times of year which include:

    • Catch and Release only in the months of January, February and December
    • Two bass per fisher, per day during the months March to November inclusive
    • Fixed nets cannot be used to catch or retain bass

Anyone found breaching any of the rules could be subject to enforcement action or even court proceedings.
