EVENT: Listed Lido

TIME: 8pm

PLACE: Tinside Lido

DETAILS: A site-specific theatre company stage a new play exploring the lives, loves and controversy surrounding Plymouth’s world famous Tinside Lido.

City campaigners who fought to restore Tinside Pool are being filmed and share their experiences in a theatre play about how pool supporters saved the iconic lido from demolition. This Summer Listed Theatre will take people on a watery romp through the thrills and chills of one of Britain's best loved lidos. LISTED LIDO is a play based on, and performed in, the iconic Tinside Lido in Plymouth - telling the story of Tinside Lido and the people who use it, the people who saved it, and the people who love it.

The Tinside Action Group was set up in 1998 to fight for the historic site to be restored, and submitted the Grade 2 listing of the complex, which the British government nationally recognised that same year, after a 72,000 signature petition was raised calling for the city council to restore one of Plymouth's most famous landmarks.

So get ready as Listed Theatre slips into swimsuits from all eras this summer, to tell you about the escapades and glories of Tinside Lido and lidos throughout Britain in their new work, LISTED LIDO.
