The phrase born and bred in Plymouth couldn't be applied more aptly than in my case!

I grew up in the city, went to university here and then worked for Exeter FM while continuing to live in Plymouth.

I was always convinced that I wanted to be a newspaper journalist, but discovered a taste for radio when I began volunteering at Hospital Radio Plymouth at the age of sixteen. I met some wonderful people there, many of whom have remained extremely good friends. I also gained the on air experience I needed.

After university, I did some freelance work for the BBC and other local radio and even got my hands on a camera as part of a BBC project inviting people to make short films about the transatlantic slave trade. Since then I have been working for Exeter FM, covering stories as diverse as the local elections and David Cameron's visit, the attempted Exeter bombing and world champion swimmer Liam Tancock's victory parade.

I am very happy to say that I really have been part of Radio Plymouth from the beginning; I took part in the first week long broadcast in 2003 and the second month long transmission in 2004. It was a fantastic experience and it's wonderful that it has all come together after such a long time.

As someone who has lived in the city all my life, I'm looking forward to finding out the answers to questions that local people ask. Issues such as the future of Drake's Island and the Plymouth Dome get people talking - I hope that Radio Plymouth's news will do the same.
