Winter road provisions addressed by council

Around 300 tonnes of salt have been stockpiled in Plymouth to keep the city moving this winter.

The last two winters have been particularly harsh and today city councillors will discuss the best ways to ensure that problem areas like hospitals and care homes receive the help they need.

A report claims that a clearer policy is needed on when to grit the roads around corporate buildings and other areas that don't automatically qualify.

It's also been suggested that the depot at Prince Rock could be used to store emergency salt supplies.
