Waterfront BID debate continues

The debate continues over whether Plymouth's waterfront should have its own business improvement district.

Firms will vote on whether they are willing to pay an extra levy for a greater say on how the area is run.

Around fifty have already signed a petition against the idea, arguing that the council should pay for any improvements.

Historian Chris Robinson has a shop in New Street and supports the BID - he says council funding won't be enough for the refurbishments they need and that money needs to be spent before businesses can reap the benefits.
