TV chef restaurant plans go to council

350 new homes at Derriford and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's planned new restaurant are just some of the applications up for discussion at today's planning meeting.

The English cities fund also want to renew their planning permission to build 1200 new homes at Millbay.

The proposals to build 350 new homes at Derriford are recommended for refusal.

Wharfside regeneration want to construct a mix of shops, homes and flats on former hospital land near Morlaix drive.

But the Highways Agency says they haven't taken into account the impact on congestion, particularly at Derriford roundabout.

Meanwhile the English cities fund want to renew their planning permission to build more than a thousand new homes at Millbay and to demolish the pavilions, building a new 2500 seater stadium elsewhere. But the city council says that doesn't mean this would happen any time soon - they still own the pavilions and are still looking for a buyer.

They say even if it's renewed, there would be no immediate impact on the pavilions.

Meanwhile chef Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall could ge the go ahead for his canteen and deli at the Brewhouse at Royal William Yard.

He already has an alcohol license and the details of opening times have been thrashed out, but now he needs permission to kit out the restaurant with fittings, a pizza oven and staff accommodation.

It's recommended for approval.
