Tributes paid to Royal Marine killed in Afghanistan

A Plymouth-based Royal Marine killed in Afghanistan has been named.

Marine David Fairbrother of 42 commando was killed on Monday when his patrol came under small arms fire in Helmand Province.

Tributes have been paid to the 24 year old, who was born in Blackburn.

His Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ewen Murchison, has described him as a 'first class Marine'.

Marine Fairbrother's mother Julie led the tributes saying, David "not only were you the perfect son but you were my best friend and you will be in my thoughts forever."
