Thousands expected to turn out for 3 commando brigade homecoming parade

It's hoped thousands of Plymothians will turn out to watch 2000 members of 3 commando brigade march through the city today.

29, 42 and 30 commando have all recently returned from Afghanistan -seven members of 42 commando have lost their lives.

Before the parade Stonehouse based 30 commando will receive their Afghanistan campaign medals on the Hoe.

There will also be a short remembrance service and the two minutes silence will be observed at 11 before the parade starts.

Lieutenant Colonel Tim Purbrick of 3 commando brigade has said it will be a proud day, but also a chance to remember those they have lost.

 The 30 commando medals ceremony starts just before 10am on the Hoe - the parade through the city centre will start at around ten past eleven.
