Thirty million pounds of funding for Devon and Somerset's broadband

The government's given the green light to a bid to get superfast broadband in Devon businesses and homes.

The county, joined with Somerset, is to get a multi million pound investment to speed up our internet.

Devon and Somerset's bid was one of only three to get the go-ahead from the government's broadband delivery unit.

They'll get a 30 million pound share of 50 million pounds funding from the agency, which is responsible for rolling out superfast broadband across the country.

75 percent of businesses in Devon say improved broadband speeds would help their business - and now they're set to get that help.

It won't be just businesses either - homes and community facilities will also benefit.

The plan is for 85 percent of businesses and homes in the two counties to have access to superfast broadband speeds by 2015 - and 100 percent by 2020.
