Tavistock community day could benefit rural residents, say organisers

Dozens of community organisations will gather in Tavistock today to offer locals advice on everything from housing to benefits.

The town's community day is in its fourth year and a number of drop in sessions will be held throughout the day.

South West Water and the Devon and Somerset fire service will be amongst those attending.

It's hoped it will help those living in more rural areas who may find it difficult to get to an organisation's offices.

Mayor of West Devon Donald Horne says when it comes to benefits in particular, people often don't know what they're entitled to.

The event takes place in Bedford square between 10am and 3pm today.
