Strikes disrupt dozens of Plymouth schools

Hundreds of thousands of teachers and civil servants are expected to join a 24 hour strike today in protest at planned changes to their pensions.

The majority of Plymouth schools will be affected by today's strike action.

Around 60 will be closed or partially closed.

There could also be disruption at airports, job centres and other public services.

Teachers will be taking part in a rally at Plymouth Albion this morning and some will then join a general public sector rally outside the Guildhall this lunchtime.

David Smale from the Plymouth NUT says they appreicate there will be some disruption for parents, but that no one should be confused about their school's arrangements for today.

If in doubt, there's a full list of the schools affected here.
