Sports day on Plymouth Hoe for disabled

People with disabilities and their families, friends and carers will gather on Plymouth Hoe today for the first ever disabled activity day in Plymouth.

Wheelchair user David Proud who plays Adam Best in Eastenders, and is patron of the charity Scootalong, will open the event at 10am.

It's the first event of its kind in the city, but the organisers are hoping to make it an annual event.

Disabled and able-bodied people are invited to see demonstrations on wheelchair dancing, football and basketball and take part in sports events.

Money raised from the event will go to plenty of good causes. The event is about informing able-bodied people, as many struggle to accept disability because they don't understand it.
