South West no longer in drought

The wettest April on record has taken the South West out of drought.

The environment agency says the high rainfall has boosted the levels of reservoirs and rivers.

Although there are still some concerns about groundwater levels, this shouldn't be a problem in Plymouth as most of our water comes from reservoirs.

The environment agency had originally said it would take several months of heavy rainfall to take us out of drought but Alan Weston from the organisation argues that was before the exceptional April rainfall.
