Six Primary Schools interested in becoming Co-operatives

A co operative trust could be set up for some schools in Plymouth so that they don't have to become academies.

Six primary schools in the city are already consulting on becoming co operatives - this could mean sharing teachers or resources.

Parents, staff and community groups are also elected to a forum which can hold the new trust to account.

The city council's Labour administration argues this is an option for those who don't want to leave local authority control.

Pilgrim Primary is one of those considering taking part.
