Shoppers could be charged to use public toilets

Using the public toilets on Armada way could soon cost you twenty pence.

The city council is proposing a £500,000 refurbishment of the underground city centre loos but they say to maintain this they will need to charge users.

Proposed improvements include having a member of staff on site during the day to improve safety, modernising the baby changing room and extending opening hours.

It's part of a pilot scheme so it's possible the city council could roll it out to other public toilets in the city.

A decision will be made on the issue at next Tuesday's cabinet meeting.
