Rob Daley is laid to rest

The man who inspired one of Plymouth's greatest sporting heroes will be laid to rest today.

It's the funeral later of Rob Daley, the father of seventeen year old diver Tom Daley.

He died from cancer just two weeks ago after a lengthy fight against a brain tumour.

Rob had cheered his son on as he worked his way to a position where he's now preparing for the Olympics next year.

Tom's issued a statement saying that his dad was incredibly brave and that if he could be half the person he was, it would be an achievment in itself.

The family ceremony will take place at 1:45pm in St Mary's Church at Plympton.

The family asks everyone to respect it as a private funeral and are asking that donations are made to St Luke's Hospice, Marie Curie, or the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
