RFA Fort George sails for final time

A Plymouth-based naval ship has sailed from Devonport for the final time before she retires.

The Royal Fleet Auxhiliary Fort George was decommissioned under the defence review - and entered the naval base for the final time earlier this month.

The ship played a major part in taking flood relief to Mozambique in 2000, and also took part in the handover of Hong Kong.

Of the 134 crew members, some will be reappointed immediately, others will go on leave with the view to being reappointed at a later date.
