Review launched into school bus fares

City councillors are reconsidering their plans to cut all school transport they don't legally have to provide at the start of the new academic year.

Labour councillor Nicky Wildy urged the cabinet to review the decision after Citybus announced plans to charge children adult fares before 9:30am from september.

The company says rising fuel prices have left them no choice - and that it will only affect those who buy their tickets from a driver, not tickets bought online or from shops.

There is currently a pass that low income families can apply for but some miss out because they don't quite fit the criteria.

Cabinet member for children and young people, councillor Samantha Leaves, has said they will look into alternatives but she's not making any promises.
