Retrial ordered for Whitleigh shooting case

The trial of two men accused of shooting and robbing a man at his Whitleigh home has been halted.

45 year old Gary Ball and 42 year old Mark Gagen deny the attack on businessman Colin Pester.

They face four joint charges, including robbery, possessing a firearm and assault causing grievous bodily harm - all of which they deny.

On Tuesday, the sixth day of the trial, the Judge discharged the jury telling them they would not be returning verdicts in the case, which had been expected to last four to five weeks.

Instead he ordered a retrial to be held at Exeter Crown Court. The date will be set next week at Plymouth Crown Court.
