Retailers given advice about staying safe in light of recent rioting elsewhere

Plymouth retailers have been sent advice about how to keep their businesses safe in light of the recent rioting elsewhere.

Police are not expecting problems this weekend, but do have extra special constables on patrol.

The city centre company say they have been approached by some concerned independent retailers.

They add that most of the advice, such as removing valuable items from window displays and taking away any un necessary merchandise from outside the shop, is common sense.

Yesterday two seventeen year old boys and an eleven year old girl from Plymouth were spoken to by police about comments they had posted on social networking sites.

They had not resulted in any disorder,
