Reopening mine could create hundreds of jobs

Reopening a tungsten and tin mine on the outskirts of Plymouth could significantly boost the local economy, creating almost 500 jobs.

The mine at Hemerdon is the fourth largest tungsten resource in the world.

It's been closed for 60 years but it could be up and running again by 2013.

Australian firm Wolf Minerals, which is behind the plans, will invest £104 million in the project.

Managing director of Wolf Minerals, Humphrey Hale, says many of the jobs vacancies will be filled with local people and it will be a great boost for the local economy.
