Record A-level pass rates for some Plymouth schools

Plymouth schools are reporting record pass rates as students prepare to collect their A Level results.

City College Plymouth say they've had a 97 percent pass rate there - a 2 percent increase on the previous year.

They say in 80 percent of their A level subjects, every student passed.

Meanwhile, Lipson Community college say it's been another record year for their students, with the average point score reaching a record high.

A special helpline has been set up at the university of Plymouth for students receiving their A-level results today.

There are still places left on some courses through clearing, particularly in the arts and engineering.

The university has had a surge in applications this year, which has been partially put down to this being the last academic year before the new 9000 pound a year tuition fees come in.

For more information about those places, you can call the university's helpline on 58 58 58. The helpline is open from 8am today until 4.30 on Friday afternoon.
