Project to help children affected by domestic violence has supported more than 500 young people

More than 560 children have been offered support thanks to a Plymouth scheme to help those affected by domestic violence.

Operation Encompass involves schoolteachers being alerted by police first thing in the morning if a child in their care may have been affected by domestic violence.

It was initially piloted in Devonport and Stoke, but has now expanded to the rest of the city.

The initiative has been mentioned in Parliament and local MP Oliver Colvile has also invited the prime minister to Plymouth to witness its work.

It's hoped the project could now expand further.
