Poppy appeal aims to raise £1m

It's hoped this year's poppy appeal in Devon could raise one million pounds for the Royal British legion.

Last year in the county £975,000 was raised, with £170,000 of that from Plymouth alone.

The Royal British legion already has ten people organising the appeal this year in Plymouth but they say they are always on the lookout for more people to help out with supermarket collections.

Meanwhile Plymouth citybus will start displaying poppies on their vehicles from today.

Bus drivers are likely to take part in the two minutes silence on Novemebr 11th, when 2000 soldiers are expected to march through Plymouth city centre.
