Plymouth polar bear victims stable

A Plymouth man injured in last week's polar bear attack in Norway is still unable to speak following his ordeal.

29 year old Michael Reid was the group leader who shot the bear after it mauled 17 year old Horatio Chapple to death.

He is now being treated at Derriford for head and facial injuries.

17 year old Scott Bennell-Smith is also in a stable condition in hospital with a fractured jaw.

Michael's father Peter Reid has praised the other young people on the trip, who set off flares and contacted the emergency services when he got hurt.
