Plymouth Navy medic to attend NATO summit after being awarded Military Cross

A Plymouth Navy medic who was awarded the military cross is en route to Chicago this afternoon to represent the UK at the NATO summit.

22 year old Liam O'Grady from St Budeaux ran through grenade fire to treat five colleagues in Afghanistan despite having shrapnel wounds himself.

He was given the military cross by Prince Charles yesterday.

He will now represent the Navy in a ceremonial capacity at the NATO summit, which starts on Sunday.
