Plymouth MP calls for more efficient procurement of equipment for armed forces

A Plymouth MP says more money will need to be spent on defence in the coming years if Britain is to be able to keep up its current capabilities.

Yesterday a report from the defence select committee found that cuts to the armed forces could damage our ability to defend ourselves after 2015.

Plymouth has already lost its four type 22 frigates.

Sutton and Devonport MP Oliver Colvile has said a plan also needs to be put in place when it comes to procuring equipment, as he claims this hasn't always been carried out efficiently.
