Plymouth hoteliers in further talks with city council over move of register office

Some Plymouth hoteliers are hoping they can persuade the city council not to move the register office to Central Park.

In June, the city council approved proposals to relocate it from Lockyer Street to Pounds House.

But local hotels and pubs argued this could cost them two million pounds in trade around the waterfront.

The city council has said it is now working through some issues with local hoteliers and that its scrutiny committee had also raised concerns.

Previously the local authority had said it was more cost effective to move the service to an existing city council building.
