Plymouth could be permanent home for Gypsy Moth IV

Sir Francis Chichester's record breaking yacht the Gypsy Moth four could find a permanent home in Plymouth if the city council gets its way.

City council leader Vivien Pengelly met with South West MEP and Sir Francis' son Giles Chichester yesterday.

He is looking for a permanent home for the fifty foot yacht, in which his father became the first person to solo navigate the globe.

Quarter of a million people watched his return to Plymouth from the waterfront in 1967.

Nothing has been decided, but city council leader Vivien Pengelly has said Plymouth would be a fitting location - they are now looking for a potential home for the vessel.
