Thirty Plymouth schoolchildren who have parents in the armed forces have been presented with their very own ceremonial flag today.

HMS Heroes is a group set up for and by the children of service personnel so that they can go on activities together and offer each other support when a parent is on a deployment.

Today they were given their very own standard which can be used at ceremonial events.

As service children often move schools frequently, the group has already designed a guide for young people who are moving to the area for the first time.

Lord Mayor Mary Aspinall presented the standard at the council house today .
