Peter Reid leaves Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle manager Peter Reid has left the club.

A statement has been released by acting chairman Peter Ridsdale - he says Peter has their 'unreserved thanks for helping to keep the club alive during a turbulent period.'

The pilgrims have now suffered eight successive league defeats and the statement also adds that in order to preserve football league status, they felt a change of manager was the only option.

It describes Peter as the 'ultimate professional' and says a statement on an interim manager will be given in the next twenty four hours.

The pilgrims remain at the bottom of league two with just one point - a deal still hasn't been signed to buy the club although Radio Plymouth understands James Brent's bid is close to completion.
