Permanent traveller sites get go ahead

The creation of any new gypsy and traveller sites in Plymouth won't happen for at least eighteen months.

City councillors approved plans for three permanent sites at Roborough, Efford and St Budeaux yesterday but they must now get government funding to make it a reality.

The authority consulted with locals on the plans but some who live in the three areas concerned are concerned it will lead to congestion.

The city council says it will help combat illegal sites.
