Controversial plans for new homes given go ahead

Householders in Plympton near the site of a controversial new estate don't need to worry about their security, according to the city council.

Plans for 12 new homes near Cundy Close were approved yesterday by the planning committee even though they were recommended for refusal.

Planning officers said a proposed new footpath linking the site with nearby areas would compromise the security of other homes because it ran behind their gardens but the committee disagreed.

The city council has put a condition on the plans that new street lighting will be installed.
