A new hospice for children in Plymouth and South East Cornwall has opened its doors to patients for the first time this week .

Little Harbour in St Austell will welcome children and their families from across the area for respite breaks and medical care.

It means local families will no longer have to travel to the charity's other hospice in North Devon.

Children's Hospice South West was chosen this week as one of the designated charities for next year's Half Marathon, along with Cancer Research UK.

Community fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West Judy Pride says every penny raised will make a difference.
