It's hoped the government may decide to base a new ice patrol ship at Devonport.

Sutton and Devonport MP Oliver Colvile is calling for the newly launched HMS Protector to come to the city.

She has been refitted to patrol the Antarctic and carry out surveys of the ice after HMS Endurance was badly damaged by flooding.

Oliver Colvile argues that as hydrographers are already trained in Plymouth and HMS Scott is based here, it makes sense.
