More strikes on cards, say public sector unions

Plymouth's public sector workers are likely to take more strike action in the autumn following the news that their pension contributions are to increase.

Yesterday the government revealed that people earning between fifteen and twenty one thousand pounds a year will pay an extra nought point six per cent of their salary, while those earning more than this will pay two point four per cent.

Last month hundreds of Plymouth teachers, job centre staff and tax office workers took part in a one day strike.

They'll meet on August 6th to discuss the next step.
