Hundreds of pirates are expected to march through the city centre today in opposition to plans to build a waste incinerator in Devonport.

Campaigners say the fancy dress is aimed at the city council, who they claim are 'stealing their fresh air'.

MVV's proposals will be discussed by city planners later in the year.

The firm have always maintained emissions meet all European guidelines and that it will deal with waste in an effective way.

The demonstration starts at the Guildhall at midday.
