More disruption for city motorists

Plymouth motorists say driving in the city is a nightmare, as another road is due to be closed.

Hele's Terrace will be shut for 12 weeks from today as part of the east end transport scheme.

The terrace, which runs between Embankment Road and Laira Bridge road, will be fitted with two new pedestrian crossings to replace the footbridge.

Road closures remain in place on the barbican as the gasmains replacement programme continues.

A four month programme to repair some of Plymouth's roads damaged by severe winter weather also gets underway today.

1-point-8 million pounds is being spent on resurfacing roads - with another 600-thousand pounds for repairing potholes in the city.

Transport bosses say this work won't add to any disruption.
