Man to be sentenced today for shooting two drug dealers

A man will be sentenced today for murdering two drug dealers - one of them Plymouth man David Griffiths.

A jury has found Thomas Haigh guilty of killing Mr Griffiths and Brett Flournoy from Merseyside.

The bodies of David Griffiths and Brett Flournoy were found buried in a burnt out van on farmland near St Austell in June last year.

26 year old Thomas Haigh and his co-accused Ross Stone - who's 28 - both denied their double murder throughout the trial at Truro Crown Court.

A jury yesterday found Haigh from Yorkshire guilty of shooting the men dead.

Stone was cleared of murder but had admitted a charge of obstructing the coroner by disposing of their bodies.

Detective chief inspector Keith Perkin, who led the investigation, said in a statement that his thoughts are with the families of David Griffiths and Brett Flournoy.

He added that despite what the court had heard about organised crime, the two men had left behind young children, partners, parents and siblings.

Both Haigh and Stone are due to be sentenced this morning.
