Man rescued from Plymstock care home after gas leak from fridge

A man has been taken to hospital after an apparent gas leak from a fridge at a Plymstock care home.

Fire crews were called to Selkirk house in Church Road just before midnight following calls about a strong smell of ammonia coming from a second floor room - staff were unable to wake the man inside.

The elderly man was rescued from his room and taken to hospital - the fridge was then removed and the room ventilated.

Two elderly women were also treated at the scene by paramedics as a precaution
