More than 400 people will take part in today's Lord Mayor's day parade in Plymouth.

Conservative councillor Peter Brookshaw begins his year in office and has set up his own charity, 'Young people in sport.'

City sports teams will be able to apply for funding for kit or equipment.

Today's events are themed around exploration in honour of the centenary of Scott's final expedition to the Antarctic.

There will be a number of events at the university this morning before the main parade starts at 1pm and finishes at the piazza.
