Local bakers march against Pasty Tax

The owner of a bakery in North Cornwall will be amongst those marching through Westminster to protest against the pasty tax today.

Under the proposals, twenty per cent VAT would be payable on all hot pasties and baked goods.

The government says if it's payable on takeaways and fish and chips, it should be payable on pasties.

The bakers will march to Westminster to hand in a petition with around half a million signatures on it and a small number will then meet with MPs afterwards.

Elaine Ede from the Chough Bakery in Padstow has said she has already halted plans for an extension to her business because of the prospect of a pasty tax
